That's why we're introducing Selfie Verification — a quick, one-time check that confirms you're a real, living person behind your profile. Not a bot. Not a catfish. Just you.
This isn't about distrust. It's about giving every CMB dater something they deserve: the confidence to match and connect, all while knowing the community is genuine.
What selfie verification is (and isn't)
Selfie verification is not the same as profile verification. You don't need a government ID. No documents, no lengthy forms.
It's a short liveness check — a quick selfie video — that confirms:
- You're a real person (not AI-generated or a bot)
- Your profile photo actually looks like you
- You're the one holding the phone right now
Once you're verified, you'll get a verified badge on your profile. A small signal that says a lot.
What happens if you don't verify
We’ll be upfront about it.
Verification is optional, and your account will remain active if you choose not to complete it.
However, starting from 15 May 2026, all Bagels will have the option to filter their matches to show only selfie-verified profiles. This means that if you’re not verified, your profile may be seen by fewer people, which could lead to a decrease in matches over time.
The process itself takes less than a minute and is designed to help build a safer, more trusted community for everyone on CMB.
How we use your data
Do you store my selfie? Yes. Your selfie is used to confirm your identity and match it to your profile photo.
Does CMB see my selfie video?
Verification is handled by a trusted third-party partner. CMB does not manually review your selfie unless needed for safety or support.
Will this affect my matches or profile?
The verified badge can make your profile more trustworthy. It does not affect ranking, your Suggested feed, or other app features.
Can I remove the verified badge?
No. Once verified, the badge can’t be removed. It’s a core part of how we maintain safety and authenticity on CMB.
Is my selfie used for ads or AI training?
No. Your selfie is only used for verification—never for ads, never sold, and never used to train AI.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your data is protected with industry-standard encryption and handled in accordance with privacy laws and our Privacy Policy.
